David Prutton in training

The Leeds United squad returned to training on Friday and midfielder David Prutton summed up the mood when he declared: "It's good to be back!"

The squad re-grouped at Thorp Arch for the first of many intensive double sessions as the players begin their preparations for the new League One campaign.

"It's good to be back," said Prutts, "especially after the end of last season you've had a lot of time to think about stuff.

"You catch up the lads again and it's good to see everybody. I hate running other than on a football pitch, but as you get older you realise it's all part of the process.

"You like the routine of being back and the discipline of being in a certain place doing something you love.

"Holidays are good to relax and decompress but it's nice to get back in the swing of things."

Prutts admits promotion is the aim this time around after agonislingly missing out in the Play-Off final last term - and the midfielder says there was no evidence of a Wembley hangover when the players re-grouped.

"You put it to bed, it's all you can do," he said. "It's part of football. There's the hunger to put it right.

"Promotion is the only thing on the agenda and it's a squad that's good enough that plays good football."
