Leeds United may have missed out on a opportunity to join Norwich at the top of League One on Saturday - but defender Leigh Bromby says the results of others are of no concern.

At the 90-minute mark on Saturday, United were well-placed to cash in on Norwich's 2-1 defeat at Millwall, but a late equaliser for Hartlepool ensured Leeds had to be content with narrowing the gap to the Canaries by a single point.

Third-placed Charlton also benefited from a late goal with Nicky Bailey securing them a point at Swindon after the hosts were on the verge of victory.

"It'd have been fantastic to move back level with Norwich, but we're confident we will win our home games and pick up points away from home," said Bromby.

"We will look after ourselves and our results.

"It's not easy at places like Hartlepool. We set our stall out not to get beat, but in the end we were disappointed not to win.

"We go to places where they are fighting for their lives and they need points so they will scrap."

Bromby was at the centre of the controversial free-kick in stoppage time which saw Antony Sweeney head home the late leveller.

The Leeds players surrounded the referee after the final whistle in protest at the free-kick and manager Simon Grayson said he felt it was a harsh decision.

"I'm not one to go running after a referee, but I didn't think it was a free-kick," said Leigh.

"The lad went down easily and it was disappointing.

"They'd had one good spell in the second half - they didn't really have any chances - but I thought we dealt with them well and reacted well to their first equaliser.

"I thought we were professonal enough in our performance and unlucky not to get the three points."

United are now back in the north again on Tuesday (7pm) with a trip to face Carlisle United in the JPT Area Final second leg. The Cumbrians hold a 2-1 advantage from the first leg.

"It's another big game and we're looking forward to it," added Leigh.

"Not many of us have played at Wembley and we want to get through."
